A Day In Chinatown

Update 7/16/26 Due to a generous donation from the Oakmont Community Foundation, the ticket price is now only $40.00. We have 8 tmore tickets avaialable for club members and we are going to offer the additional remaining 18 tickets to Oakmont non members at a price of $40.00. They will pay by check using the sign up list in our folder in the OVA office. We will fill the 36 seats in the bus with 18 members and 18 non members. For those who already paid $95 per ticket, we will issue a refund check to you in the amount of $50 per ticket. Thanks for your understanding.

OK folks, we finally have that trip to Chinatown! Wednesday, August 26th we have a 36 passenger delux motor coach from Pure Luxury Transporation to take us to Chinatown. The motor coach will depart from the Berger Lot at 8:30 am and arrive back at 4:30 pm. There will be a lot of walking with hills and stairs as well as periods of standing so please take that into consideration.

Upon arrival at about 10:00 am, we will visit the Chinese Historical Society of America Museum . https://chsa.org

Lunch and shopping is on your own, then at 1:45 PM we have a tour of the Showgirl Magic Museum, personally narrated by Cynthia "Empress" Yee, former Miss Chinatown and founder of the Grant Avenue Follies. https://www.theclarionsf.org/showgirl-magic-museum

The cost per person for the trip including the CHSA museum and Showgirl Magic Museum is $40.00 round trip. Lunch and shopping will be on your own. 8 tickets are on sale now.

We recommend that you watch this 50 minute video on YouTube featuring Cynthia "Empress" Yee. On the video she discusses the history of Chinatown and it's like a walking tour. She also talks about the Showgirl Museum and the Grant Avenue Follies. She graciously offered to open the Showgirl Museum for us with a personal tour.
